Magnum P.I. ended its run earlier this week, and if you’re not too thrilled about the way it ended—you’re not alone. The leading man Jay Hernandez feels the same way, and he recently revealed he’d like to wrap up Thomas Magnum’s story with a standalone film.
Magnum P.I. is the reboot of the popular 80s show of the same name, and it centers on Thomas Magnum, a private investigator and former Navy SEAL, who uses his military skills to solve crimes after returning home from Afghanistan.
In addition to Hernandez in the lead role, Magnum P.I. also starred Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Tim Kang, and Amy Hill before concluding its run with its fifth and final season on January 3.
Hernandez received countless messages from fans after Magnum P.I. ended its run. He thanked them for their support and dedication and revealed he wouldn’t mind coming back as Thomas Magnum for another ride.
“I actually floated the idea of a standalone film. I suppose it’s still possible. If I’m being totally honest I didn’t love the show ending how it did. That being said, to all the #magnum #ohana thank you for always supporting us! Y’all have been AMAZING,” wrote Hernandez on X (formerly known as Twitter).
