We’ve seen many actors and comedians turn to hosting in recent years, and Jay Pharoah decided to give it a shot. Saturday Night Live star will host the new game show The Quiz with Balls, set to premiere on Fox this summer.
Created by Talpa Studios and Fremantle’s Eureka Production, which gave us such hit shows as Big Brother and The Voice, this game show will seamlessly blend the high stakes of a quiz show with a large-scale expectation of physical competitions.
Two families will have to answer multiple-choice quiz questions while standing on a high platform over a pool for a chance to win a grand prize worth $100,000.
Allison Wallach, Fox Entertainment’s president of unscripted programming, is expecting Pharoah to make a huge splash as the “playful, quick-witted and high-energy” host of this game show.
“No matter the stage or show, Jay’s singular brand of humor and comedic timing elevates everything he does. With him at the helm of The Quiz with Balls, viewers of all ages are assured an exciting and hilarious hour of fun playing along with Jay and our family contestants,” said Wallach in a statement.
Pharoah previously served as the guest judge on Fox’s hit show The Masked Singer, in addition to hosting Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered.
