Season 2 of The Last of Us will be as star-studded as it gets, and another acclaimed actor just joined the gang. The recent Oscar nominee Jeffrey Wright will play Isaac in HBO’s post-apocalyptic series, after voicing the same character in the original video game.

HBO’s official logline describes Wright’s character as “the quietly powerful leader of a large militia group who sought liberty but instead has become mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy.” He’ll easily slip into this role since he previously voiced Isaac in the video game The Last of Us Part II.

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will return as the leading duo Joel and Ellie, who are journeying together across the post-apocalyptic United States after he was tasked to smuggle her out of an oppressive quarantine zone.

In addition to Wright, Season 2 will feature several newcomers to the cast, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Catherine O’Hara in a mystery role.

Wright is no stranger to starring in HBO’s hit dramas, and we’ve previously seen him in Boardwalk Empire and Westworld. He most recently received an Oscar nod for his leading role in American Fiction, and will next appear in Spike Lee’s High and Low.
