Jensen Ackles is no stranger to carrying a major TV show on his shoulders, and he’s getting ready to do it again. Supernatural star landed one of the lead roles in Derek Haas’ upcoming thriller drama series Countdown at Amazon Prime Video.
Ackles will lead the cast as the LAPD officer Mark Meachum, who’s recruited to join a secret task force of undercover agents after a suspicious murder takes place in broad daylight. Agents from all branches of law enforcement must work together and overcome their conflicting personal agendas in order to come to the bottom of this sinister plot.
Amazon MGM Studios placed a 13-episode order for this project, which will mark their reunion with Jensen Ackles, who already starred in one of Prime Video’s biggest hits – The Boys.
“I had an incredible experience working with the Prime Video team on The Boys and am delighted to be able to continue that relationship on Countdown. I simply cannot wait to partner with Derek and the rest of our Countdown family to bring this story to life,” said Ackles in a statement.
Countdown was created for Amazon by Chicago One veteran Derek Haas, and it marks his first project under his overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios following his exit from Wolf Entertainment.
