The final season of Young Sheldon is currently airing on CBS, and it’s shaping up to be one for the books! The Big Bang Theory stars Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik agreed to make cameos as Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler in the series finale.

Young Sheldon was conceived as a prequel to the hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory, and it chronicled the adventures of Sheldon Cooper during his early years. Ian Armitage portrayed the younger version of the character, while Parson played him as an adult in the original series.

The Big Bang Theory ended its run in 2019, and this will mark the first time Sheldon and Amy reunited in person since the series finale. Persons was a part of Young Sheldon since the very start as its narrator, while the supporting cast included Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Annie Potts, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, and Emily Osment.

Young Sheldon is a major hit for CBS and the network could’ve easily kept it going for a few more seasons, but executive producer Steve Holland explained that now felt like a perfect time to end it because we already know what Sheldon’s future holds.

“We started talking about the future of the show, and what it looked like. This is the right time for this story to come to an end, knowing that at 14, he goes off to Cal Tech. It felt like the right time to end it strong while it was on top,” said Holland, according to Deadline.
