True Detective fans have wondered if the show will remain an anthology series or continue the Night Country storyline in Season 5, and Jodie Foster just gave us the final answer. The Oscar-winning actress said she won’t be back for the next season, confirming this series will stay true to its anthology roots.

Foster recently hit the red carpet at the Academy Awards after receiving a nomination for her role in Nyad and took a moment to chat with Variety’s Marc Malkin. In addition to discussing her Oscar-nominated role, Foster also addressed her True Detective future.

She said that her time on the show was “one and done” because this series is an anthology, and simply answered “No” when asked if she’ll be back for another season.

True Detective: Night Country was created for HBO by the new showrunner Issa López, and it starred Foster and Kali Reis as two detectives forced to confront the darkness that they carry in themselves while trying to solve the disappearance of the eight men working at Tsalal Arctic Research Station in Ennis, Alaska.

HBO renewed this anthology series for its fifth season after Night Country became its most-watched installment, and López agreed to return as a showrunner after striking an overall deal with the network.
