Joel McHale is no stranger to memorable guest-starring roles, and he’s gearing up to play another one. The Community star will make an appearance in the highly-anticipated third season of Showtime’s survival thriller Yellowjackets.

Showtime’s official logline describes Yellowjackets as “the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness”, which chronicles both their descent to savage clans and their attempts to piece their lives together nearly 25 years later.

McHale landed a mystery role in the upcoming third season, and he’ll be featured in the guest star capacity. He joins the show’s acclaimed ensemble, which includes Melanie Lynskey, Sophie Nélisse, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Samantha Hanratty, Tawny Cypress, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Courtney Eaton, Lauren Ambrose, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, and Kevin Alves.

Joel McHale is best known as the star of the cult NBC sitcom Community, and he’ll return for its recently announced spin-off movie. He’s also leading Fox’s sitcom Animal Control, and we’ve recently seen him guest star in the Emmy-winning dramedy The Bear, in addition to hosting the reality competition series House of Villains on E!
