The Apple TV+ drama series Firebug is rounding out its cast, and another major star just joined the pack. The Emmy winner John Leguizamo will join Taron Egerton in Dennis Lehane’s intriguing series, loosely inspired by the true story of the notorious arsonist John Leonard Orr.

Firebug will see a troubled detective and an enigmatic arson investigator pursue the trials of two serial arsonists. The truth.media podcast of the same name served as the basis for this series, and it’s inspired by events surrounding the infamous arsonist John Leonard Orr.

Leguizamo is the latest star to join the cast in the role of Esposito, described as a former policeman with a lot of bad habits and a lot of good instincts. He joins the leading man Taron Egerton and the recently cast Jurnee Smollett, who’ll play a rising-star detective Michelle.

Firebug hails from the acclaimed filmmaker Dennis Lehane, who previously collaborated with Egerton on the true crime drama Black Bird. Kari Skogland is coming on board as a director and one of the executive producers.

Leguizamo will add Firebug to his impressive run of acclaimed TV credits. He received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations in the past five years for his roles in Waco and When They See Us, and went on to play one of the lead roles in the sci-fi drama The Power.
