Jude Law Returns as The New Pope

Jude Law and Silvio Orlando in "The Young Pope"

We have our first look at the forthcoming season of The New Pope, and it’s a reminder that we’re in for a doozy.

2016’s The Young Pope saw Jude Law play the former Archbishop of New York who is chosen as the titular Pope Pius XIII.

The series, created and directed by Paolo Sorrentino, earned Law a Golden Globe nomination and is now anticipating a second installment.

The Captain Marvel actor will return as Lenny Belardo and will be joined by John Malkovich, Henry Goodman, Ulrich Thomsen, Mark Ivanir, Massimo Ghini, Silvio Orlando, Javier Cámara, Cécile de France, Ludivine Sagnier, and Maurizio Lombardi.

The teaser released by HBO features Law stripped down and walking on a beach, in contrast to Malkovich’s papal figure.

Like its predecessor, The New Pope will make its debut at the Venice Film Festival on September 1st.
