The fourth season of The Morning Show is bringing many changes our way, and it will mark the absence of one major cast member. Julianna Margulies won’t be returning as journalist Laura Peterson after exiting the Apple TV+ series ahead of Season 4.
Margulies joined The Morning Show in Season 2 as a former UBA journalist, Laura Peterson, who starts a secret relationship with Reese Witherspoon’s character, Bradley Jackson. Season 3 saw their relationship deteriorate due to secrets Bradley was hiding from her, but things take a wild turn when Laura’s network NBN announces their plan to merge with UBA at the end of the season.
Given this development, Margulies was expected to return for Season 4, but she reportedly turned down the offer to make only a one-episode appearance. Variety reports that the door remains open for her potential return in Season 5.
Despite Margulies’ absence, the upcoming fourth season of The Morning Show will be a star-studded affair. Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, and Greta Lee are expected to return. They’ll be joined by the Oscar winner Marion Cotillard, whose character Celine Dumont has been described as a savvy operator from a storied European family.
