Julianne Moore is fresh off starring in Mary & George, and she’s already gearing up to lead another intriguing TV project. The Emmy-winning actress is attached to the TV adaptation of the acclaimed documentary The Lost Leonardo.
The Lost Leonardo chronicled the incredible journey of the painting called Salvador Mundi, the crumbling work of art depicting Jesus Christ in an anachronistic blue Renaissance clothing, believed to be the final work of Leonardo Da Vinci.
Moore will lead the series as Dianne Modestini, who painstakingly restored the painting after believing there’s something special about it, only to watch it fetch $450 million at an auction at the New York auction house Christie’s in 2017.
This series will chronicle numerous mysterious twists, turns, and controversies that Modestini embarked on between restoring the painting and taking it to auction, facing many skeptics who were convinced it wasn’t Da Vinci’s work.
This project will reunite Moore with Crazy, Stupid, Love. directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. They’ll direct the series and serve as its executive producers alongside Moore and Gillian Weeks, who also serves as its creator and showrunner.
Moore most recently appeared alongside Nicholas Galitzine in the historical drama Mary & George, and will next be seen in Pedro Almodóvar’s The Room Next Door.
