It was just a matter of time before Grace and Frankie star June Diane Raphael got the chance to lead her own show, and that moment is finally here! She’ll join forces with Alena Smith for NBC’s Something Wicked, described as a Bewitched-type comedy series.

Something Wicked hails from Dickinson creator Alena Smith, and it’s not a reboot or remake of Bewitched, but a homage to the original series. It will examine “the condition of modern adult womanhood and how even with witchcraft, balancing everything is impossible,” according to NBC’s logline.

In addition to playing the lead role, June Diane Raphael will also be credited as one of the producers alongside Alena Smith. She’s best known as the star of Netflix’s long-running sitcom Grace and Frankie. We’ve recently seen her play recurring roles on Abbott Elementary, The Morning Show, and Based on a True Story, in addition to doing voice work on Big Mouth.

This multi-camera comedy series shouldn’t be confused with Sony TV’s recently announced reboot of the hit 60s series about a witch trying to lead a typical suburban life after marrying an ordinary mortal man. Judalina Neira (The Boys, Daisy Jones and the Six) is developing this series under her overall deal with Sony Pictures Television.
