After receiving rave reviews for her performance in the Max series The Flight Attendant, Kaley Cuoco is gearing up for another collaboration with HBO. She’s eyeing the lead role in the new comedy series Kansas City Star, which hails from the team behind the Emmy-winning series Hacks.

Kansas City Star is yet to get the official series order at HBO, but its chances are looking good. It hails from the Hacks trio of Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky, who are executive producing it alongside Cuoco. According to Deadline, it will center on “a semi-famous actress who returns to her hometown to work with a regional theater troupe.”

Kaley Cuoco is best known as the star of the hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory, which ran on CBS for over a decade until 2019. Following its grand finale, she went on to star in the crime comedy The Flight Attendant, which earned her nominations at the Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards.

Despite being one of the shows that helped launch HBO’s streaming service, Max, The Flight Attendant was canceled after just two seasons. Cuoco said that she “could possibly get back in it,” but not right away because it felt like “the plane has landed” after two seasons.
