Tim Allen is getting ready to lead ABC’s upcoming comedy pilot Shifting Gears, and he’ll be in pretty good company. 2 Broke Girls star Kat Dennings will play Allen’s daughter in this promising pilot, which hails from Mike and Julie Scully.

Shifting Gears will center on Matt, a stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop, who comes to learn the true meaning of the word “restoration” after his estranged daughter moves back into his house with her teenage son.

Dennings’ character Riley has been described as Matt’s daughter, who often butted heads with her father before leaving her childhood home to get hitched with a guy he couldn’t stand. Years later, Riley is a divorced mom of two, who’s hoping she can mend her relationship with her dad after being forced to move back home.

Dennings is best known as Max George Black in 2 Broke Girls and Darcy Lewis in the Thor franchise. She also led Hulu’s comedy series Dollface and returned as Darcy Lewis in the acclaimed Disney+ series WandaVision.

In addition to playing one of the lead roles, Dennings will also produce this project, while Allen and creators Mike and Julie Scully serve as executive producers alongside Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, and Rick Messina.
