Peacock is plotting a TV adaptation of the black comedy The ‘Burbs, and they found a perfect person to lead it. Keke Palmer will lead the cast of the modern-day adaptation of the late ’80s hit, and she’s also coming on board as one of the executive producers.
The ‘Burbs draws inspiration from the 1989 black comedy led by Tom Hanks, Carrie Fisher, and Bruce Dern, and here’s what its modern-day version has in store, according to Peacock’s official logline:
“Set in present-day suburbia, ‘The ‘Burbs’ follows a young couple returning to the husband’s childhood home. Their world is upended when new neighbors move in next door, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.”
Celeste Hughey (Palm Royale) is writing this adaptation for Peacock, and she’ll serve as one of EPs alongside Palmer, Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, and Aimee Carlson via Fuzzy Door, Brian Grazer, Kristen Zolner, and Natalie Berkus via Imagine Entertainment, plus Dana Olsen, who wrote the original film.
Palmer is a two-time Emmy winner, whose recent notable credits include films Hustlers and Nope. She currently serves as the host of the game show Password and will next be seen in Aziz Ansari’s comedy Good Fortune.
