We assume there’s no need for a spoiler alert, but in case you still haven’t watched the final season or episode of HBO’s acclaimed fantasy drama — stop reading.

Game of Thrones ended its incredible run a couple of months ago, but the show’s stars, much like its fans, are finding it difficult to let it go.

Fan favorite Jon Snow’s last scene saw the him head back to the Night’s Watch, but then leaving Castle Black and heading beyond the Wall. But what was that all about? Kit Harrington tells The Hollywood Reporter that fans mostly got it right, and that Jon was heading out beyond the wall with the Free Folk.

“Seeing him go beyond the Wall back to something true, something honest, something pure with these people he was always told he belongs with—the Free Folk—it felt to me like he was finally free,” said the actor.

“Instead of being chained and sent to the Wall, it felt like he was set free. It was a really sweet ending. As much as he had done a horrible thing, as much as he had felt that pain, the actual ending for him was finally being released.”

While many thought Jon deserved much better after he had done so much for the Seven Kingdoms, it seems Harrington is quite pleased with Jon’s ending.

Harrington is currently nominated for the Emmys’ Best Actor in a Drama Series award.
