Korean Cult Classic “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” Is Getting An American Remake

Bo-Young Park, Hyung-shik Park, and Ji Soo in "Him-ssen yeo-ja Do Bong-soon"

The cult Korean TV series Strong Woman Do Bong Soon is getting an American remake.

The Korean show starred Ji Soo and Hyungsik. Just like our favorite vampire slayer Buffy Summers, Do Bong Soon has super-strength. Unlike Buffy, she is embarrassed by her strength and hides it from her crush as she fears that he won’t like her if he knew how strong she was. Do Bong Soon also doesn’t fight vampires (as far as we’re aware).

The remake will be titled Strong Girl and according to Deadline, it will deviate quite significantly from the original. They say that Strong Girl will be: “an adaptation of a Korean format [that will follow] a former war photographer named Rayna who discovers she is indestructible and potentially the strongest woman in the world.”

More details on the American adaptation to be announced soon.
