Kristen Wiig’s “SNL” Five-Timers Monologue Was One Star-Studded Affair

Kristen Wiig finally returned to the iconic Saturday Night Live stage this past weekend, and she was in pretty good company. Several A-list stars crashed Wiig’s five-timers club monologue, including Ryan Gosling, Matt Damon, and Paull Rudd.

Wiig opened her monologue by saying, “I am so happy to be back, and I am so excited because it is my fifth time hosting, so I am officially in the five-timers club.” The fellow five-timer Paul Rudd was sitting in the audience, lobbying for a role in one of the sketches – and he wasn’t the only previous host to crash Wiig’s monologue.

SNL alums Fred Armisen and Will Forte and Wiig’s Bridesmaids co-star Jon Hamm also joined her, along with Matt Damon, Martin Short, and Ryan Gosling. Despite not hosting the show five times, they were all rocking the five-timers’ jackets, diminishing Wiig’s achievement and making her feel that being a member of the five-timers club was not such a big deal anymore.

They eventually made it up to her by singing a song that pays homage to some of Wiig’s iconic SNL characters: “This is your night. It’s no surprise. The memories of you as Gilly should win you a prize. They should hang you up in the Louvre. Target Lady would say, ‘I approve.'”

Wiig returned to SNL to promote her new series Palm Royale, which is currently streaming on Apple TV+.
