Netflix is plotting the adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s hit novel Forever, Interrupted, and they’re slowly rounding out its cast. Laura Dern and Margaret Qualley will lead and executive produce this series, which hails from writer Julia Bicknell.
Forever, Interrupted centers on a young woman Elsie (Qualley), whose whirlwind romance with Ben takes a tragic turn after he unexpectedly dies just months into their marriage. While coming to terms with her grief, Elsie is forced to face her mother-in-law Susan (Dern), who doesn’t even know that she exists.
The tale of the couple’s electric romance will be told through a dual timeline, recounting their once-in-a-lifetime love story, while also intercutting with Elsie and Susan’s unexpected journey in real-time, which leads them to cathartic new beginnings.
In addition to playing lead roles, Dern and Qualley will also executive produce this series, alongside Jessica Rhoades, Alison Mo Massey, Brad Mendelsohn and Taylor Jenkins Reid, Jayme Lemons, and Brett Hedblom, while A24 serves as the studio.
Margaret Qualley collaborated with Netflix on the limited series Maid, which earned her first Emmy nomination. Laura Dern won an Oscar for her supporting role in Netflix’s Marriage Story, and we’ve recently seen her star in several acclaimed series, including Big Little Lies, Twin Peaks, and Palm Royale.
