Most people know Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe Buffay from Friends, but the HBO series The Comeback is definitely one of her most acclaimed projects. It’s been a decade since its second season ended its run, and Kudrow is open to stepping into Valerie Cherish’s shoes again.
Kudrow recently sat down with Newsweek to discuss her role in Time Bandits, and one of her beloved past projects came up during the interview. The Comeback remains one of her favorite series, and she’s grateful to everyone who’s still asking for its return.
“I’m just thrilled and adore anyone who has the level of appreciation for The Comeback that meets the level of pride I have for doing that show. That is thrilling. I’m happy to hear that,” she told Newsweek.
Kudrow also said this series is due for a comeback, adding she discussed what would happen next with the co-creator Michael Patrick King. Seeing this HBO comedy return a decade later wouldn’t be a stretch because the wait between the first two seasons was just as long.
The Comeback starred Kudrow as Valerie Cherish, a B-list sitcom actress trying to return to the spotlight after landing a role in another network sitcom. It ran on HBO for two seasons in 2005 and 2014 and earned Kudrow two Emmy nominations.
