Anime are never going out of style, and Netflix has been doing a great job putting a twist on this popular genre in recent years. Live-action anime and manga adaptations are taking this streaming service by storm, and here are three that got everyone talking.

One Piece

The adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga series One Piece was one of the most popular new shows to premiere on Netflix last year and it was promptly renewed for Season 2. It centers on the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates, as they explore the high seas searching for a fabled treasure.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender has proven to be quite difficult to adapt, but that didn’t stop Netflix from trying. The live-action adaptation of the beloved anime is coming to Netflix this February, and it will see the young airbender Aang trying to fulfill his destiny and become the ruler of all four elements, known as the Avatar.

Alice in Borderland

Before adapting beloved franchises One Piece and Avatar, Netflix tested the waters with Alice in Borderland. Based on the manga by Haro Aso, this series centers on two friends trapped in an abandoned version of Tokyo, who are forced to compete in dangerous games in order to survive.
