“Made for Love” is Coming to HBO Max

HBO Max is boosting its schedule ahead of its launch next year.

The latest is the adaptation of a novel by Alissa Nutting.

Made for Love is a dark and cynical story of divorce and revenge that was named the best book of 2017 by GQ, The New Yorker, and NPR.

The unusual plot follows Hazel Green, who is on the run after leaving her controlling, tech billionaire husband, Byron Gogol. She then discovers that he has a device known as the “Made for Love chip” implanted in her brain, which allows him to to track her, watch her, and know her thoughts and feelings.

Cristin Milioti, who many remember as the elusive mother from How I Met Your Mother, will star as Hazel in the half-hour series.

The Leftovers producer, Patrick Somerville, will serve as showrunner and writer.
