May Cobb’s novel The Hunting Wives is getting its TV adaptation, and Starz found the perfect person to lead this project. Malin Åkerman will play the lead role in this promising series, which hails from writer and showrunner Rebecca Cutter.

According to its official logline, The Hunting Wives “tells the story of Sophie O’Neil and her family’s move from the East Coast to deep East Texas, where she succumbs to socialite Margo’s irresistible charms – and finds her life consumed by obsession, seduction, and murder.”

This series draws inspiration from May Cobb’s novel of the same name, and it’s been created for Starz by Rebecca Cutter (Hightown). Cobb and Cutter will both be credited as executive producers alongside Erwin Stoff for 3 Arts Entertainment since they’re producing this series with Lionsgate Television.

Åkerman got her big break on television with the role in HBO’s The Comeback alongside Lisa Kudrow, and she’s been pretty busy ever since. We’ve seen her star on several hit shows over the years, including Children’s Hospital, Trophy Wife, and Billions.

The Hunting Wives will kick off production in Charlotte, North Carolina this spring, with the additional cast yet to be announced, and the first season is expected to feature eight episodes.
