Owen Wilson landed a lead role in Apple TV’s professional golf series earlier this year, and he’ll be in some pretty good company. This comedy series is slowly rounding out its ensemble, and Mariana Treviño is the latest cast member to join it.
Wilson will lead the series as an ex-pro golfer Pryce Cahill, whose career came to a premature end 20 years ago, impacting the trajectory of his life for the years to come.
“After he gets fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store and his wife walks out on him, Pryce hedges his bets entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom,” reads the show’s official synopsis.
Peter Dager had previously been cast as the teen golf protégé, and Mariana Treviño will play his mother Elena. Marc Maron will also star as Mitts, Pryce’s best friend and former caddy.
Jason Keller wrote the untitled golf comedy for Apple TV+, and he’s executive producing it alongside Wilson, while Little Miss Sunshine’s Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris are coming on board as directors.
Mariana Treviño most recently starred opposite Tom Hanks in A Man Called Otto, while her notable TV credits include roles in Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico and The House of Flowers.
