Ellen Pompeo is getting ready to star in Hulu’s limited series Orphan, and this show just found its male lead. The Emmy-nominated actor Mark Duplass will appear opposite Pompeo in Katie Robbins’ upcoming series.

Inspired by the true story of Natalia Grace, Orphan will center on the Midwestern couple who adopted a little girl with dwarfism, only to come to believe she may not be who she claims she is. The story will be told from multiple points of view to reflect the conflicting narratives of its central characters.

Katie Robbins wrote the series for Hulu, and she’s coming on board as its showrunner and executive producer. Pompeo is also one of the EPs through her production banner Calamity Jane with Laura Holstein, along with Sarah Sutherland, Mike Epps, Dan Spilo, Niles Kirchner, and Andrew Stearn, plus Liz Garbus, who’s directing the pilot.

Duplass will portray Michael Barnett, Kristine Barnett’s (Pompeo) husband, and Natalia’s (Imogen Faith Reid) adoptive father. He currently stars in Apple TV+ drama The Morning Show alongside Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, which earned him his first acting Emmy and Golden Globe nomination. His major TV credits also include roles in The League, The Mindy Project, and Togetherness.
