While Power is about to premiere its last season, there’s more of that to come.

The first of what will be many spin-offs has been greenlit, and it will star music icon Mary J. Blige.

Executive producers Courtney Kemp and Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson announced Power Book II: Ghost and its headliner, Blige, at the 2019 Television Critics Association press tour Friday in Los Angeles.

“We have alluded previously to various spin-offs, prequels, and other expansions of the Power universe,” Kemp said. “Today we are pleased to announce that we are in pre-production on the first of what we know will be a collection of series inspired by the dynamic world of Power. Power Book II: Ghost will continue the journey of some of Power’s most controversial characters.”

“This is probably the most exciting thing that’s going to happen to me this year,” Blige added at the event. “I’ve been a fan of Power since the very beginning, and I want to thank Courtney Kemp and 50 Cent for starting this conversation with me.”

Power will premiere its sixth and final season on August 25th.
