Ryan Murphy is plotting his next project as a producer, and he managed to round out a pretty impressive cast. Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer, and Linda Lavin will lead Hulu’s comedy pilot Mid-Century Modern, which hails from Will & Grace duo Max Mutchnick and David Kohan.

Mid-Century Modern drew comparisons to the legendary sitcom The Golden Girls, and here’s what it has in store according to its official logline:

“The series follows three best friends – gay gentlemen of a certain age – who, after an unexpected death, decide to spend their golden years living together in Palm Springs.”

Nathan Lane will lead the cast as Bunny Schneiderman, a recently retired businessman, who’s constantly searching for love. Linda Lavin will play his mother Sybil Schneiderman, who’s wise, caring, and iconoclastic, while also being critical, smothering, and amoral.

Matt Bomer will join them as Jerry Frank, who left the Mormon Church after his marriage fell apart in his early 20s once his wife informed the rest of the congregation that he was gay.

Will & Grace duo Max Mutchnick and David Kohan created this series for Hulu and wrote the pilot, which will be directed by James Burrows. They’re also executive producing it alongside Murphy, Bomer, Lane, and Burrows.
