We haven’t seen much of Matthew Fox since Lost ended its run, but that’s about to change pretty soon. The Emmy-nominated actor, who took a long break from acting during the 2010s, will headline Max’s upcoming drama series The Assassin.

Based on Tom Wood’s book series, The Assassin centers on a merciless contract killer Victor, who finds himself being chased by multiple enemies across the globe after being betrayed by an anonymous client. He must uncover the identity of the traitor to stay alive, “while also grappling with a buried spark of humanity that begins to resurface within him and might just be the greatest threat to his survival”, according to Max’s official logline.

The Assassin hails from the writer and showrunner John Glenn, who’s coming on board as one of the executive producers alongside Fox, Wood, Nicolas Atlan and Holly Brown for Gaumont, and Geoff Shaevitz and William Choi for Entertainment 360.

Fox is best known as the star of the cult sci-fi series Lost, but his career slowed down after this show ended its run. He took a break from acting in 2014, explaining he wanted to spend time with his family, after making his last two film appearances in Extinction and Bone Tomahawk. He made his return with roles in TV shows Last Light and C*A*U*G*H*T.
