After producing a hit Nordic film series, Jussi Adler-Olsen’s Department Q book series is finally getting its English-language adaptation. Matthew Goode, Kelly Macdonald, Chloe Pirrie, and more will star in Scott Frank’s upcoming Netflix adaptation.

Goode (The King’s Man) will lead the series in the role of emotionally scarred detective DCI Carl Morck, who’s been entrusted with setting up a cold case unit, Department Q. Despite his slow start, his detective instincts are ultimately reawakened, and a crew of misfits and mavericks quickly decides to join his new department.

Pirrie (The Queen’s Gambit) will join him as ruthless and ambitious prosecutor Merrit Lingard, while Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire) will play Dr. Rachel Irving, a therapist using her expertise to get traumatized officers back on the front line.

The cast of this project will also include Alexej Manvelov (Jack Ryan), Leah Byrne (Call the Midwife, Mark Bonnar (Napoleon), Shirley Henderson (Harry Potter), Jamie Sives (Guilt), and Kate Dickie (Inside Man).

Netflix’s Department Q adaptation hails from Scott Frank (The Queen’s Gambit), who serves as its showrunner, in addition to co-writing it alongside Chandni Lakhani, Stephen Greenhorn, and Colette Kane. He’ll also direct the first two episodes, which are currently filming in Edinburgh, Scotland.
