Matthew Rhys has given us many captivating TV dramas over the years, and another one is on the way. The Emmy-winning actor will star opposite Claire Danes in Netflix’s limited series The Beast In Me.
Danes will lead the series as the acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs, who became a ghost of her former self in the wake of her young’s son tragic death. She’s facing a writing block after receding from public life until she finds an unlikely subject for a new book in her new next-door neighbor.
“Nile Sheldon (Rhys) [is] a famed and formidable real estate mogul who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth – chasing his demons while fleeing her own – in a game of cat and mouse that might turn deadly,” reads Netflix’s official logline.
Rhys is best known as the star of FX’s period spy drama The Americans, which won him an Emmy Award for outstanding lead actor in a drama series. He was later nominated in the same category for his role in the period drama Perry Mason, which ran on HBO for two seasons until its cancelation last year.
