Many amazing actors have gone through the halls of Law & Order over the years, and another acclaimed actress just joined the cast. Maura Tierney boarded Season 24 of NBC’s hit police procedural drama as a series regular.

NBC is keeping the details about Tierney’s character under wraps, and she joins the ensemble following the departure of series regular Camryn Manheim as Lieutenant Kate Dixon. She’ll be credited as a series regular and will reportedly play a lieutenant, so it’s safe to assume her character would fill the void left by Manheim’s exit.

Season 24 will bring many big changes our way, and it will also mark the departure of Sam Waterston, who’s been playing District Attorney Jack McCoy for three decades. Tony Goldwyn joined the cast as the new district attorney following Waterston’s departure.

Tierney is no stranger to starring in the hit NBC shows, and she got her big break with the roles in the sitcom NewsRadio and the medical drama ER during the 90s.

Most people now know her as Helen Solloway from The Affair, which earned her a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. She most recently starred in the disaster film Twisters and Prime Video’s crime drama American Rust.
