Max seems to be on somewhat of a cancelation streak lately, and they just axed another beloved show. The Julia Child biopic Julia won’t return for another season, and the recent Season 2 finale will officially mark its final chapter.

Julia chronicled the journey of the famed chef and cookbook author Julia Child, portrayed by Sarah Lancashire. The series was mostly set during the 1960s, and it showed Child becoming a household name while hosting her pioneering cooking show The French Chef.

Julia was created for Max by Daniel Goldfarb, and its cancelation comes shortly after the Season 2 finale aired on December 21, 2023. In addition to Lancashire, the series also starred David Hyde Pierce, Bebe Neuwirth, Fran Kranz, Fiona Glascott, Brittany Bradford, and Robert Joy.

The cancelation was confirmed in a statement by a Max representative, who thanked the cast and crew behind this series for cooking up some magic for two seasons.

“We are so honored to have partnered with Chris Keyser, Daniel Goldfarb, and their masterful creative team and dynamic cast… Thanks to their beautiful work over two seasons of this heartful, sensual, and inspiring show, we can forever celebrate the incredible legacy of Julia Child,” reads the statement.
