After two seasons on Max, Pretty Little Liars: Summer School is going on a prolonged summer break. The streaming giant announced their decision to cancel this spin-off series set in the Pretty Little Liars universe.

Pretty Little Liars: Summer School marked the continuation of the first season, titled Original Sin. It followed five teen girls from Millwood, Pennsylvania, who decide to join forces after receiving a cryptic message from a mysterious “A”, who blames their mothers for a series of events that led to a classmate’s death on New Year’s Eve 1999.

Bailee Madison, Chandler Kinney, Zaria, Malia Pyles, and Maia Reficco led the series as the new generation of Pretty Little Liars, and they were joined by Mallory Bechtel, Sharon Leal, Alex Aiono, Jordan Gonzalez, and Elias Kacavas in supporting roles.

Max announced the show’s cancelation in an official statement, and thanked its co-creators Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring for reintroducing fans to this new iteration of liars banding together to fight the latest creepy villain terrifying Millwood.

“Their unique and modern creative vision – combined with the immense talent of our cast and crew – gave the series a fun, horror-filled point of view that paid tribute to its original Rosewood roots,” reads Max’s press release.
