It’s only been a few weeks since the first season of Bookie wrapped up on Max, and the show’s future is looking bright. Chuck Lorre’s latest series will be back for another ride after the streaming giant decided to renew it for its second season.

Bookie was created for Max by Chuck Lorre and Nick Bakay, and it stars Sebastian Maniscalco as a veteran bookie, who’s trying to juggle his unstable clients and fast-paced life in Los Angeles, while also dealing with the impending legalization of sports gambling.

In addition to Maniscalco in the lead role, Bookie also stars Omar Dorsey, Andrea Anders, Vanessa Ferlito, Jorge Garcia, Maxim Swinton, and Charlie Sheen as himself.

Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO Programming, confirmed the show’s renewal, saying, “The collaboration between Chuck and Sebastian has proven to be a winning hand and we’re looking forward to continuing the story with this incredibly talented cast and crew.”

Lorre and Bakay released a joint statement following the show’s renewal and said they couldn’t be more excited that Max “listened to their gut, paid the juice, and let it ride on Season 2 of Bookie.” The show’s first season premiered on this streaming platform on November 30, 2023, and featured a total of eight episodes.
