Deadline is the first to report that Amazon has cast Maxim Baldry as a lead in The Lord of the Rings TV series.

The British actor has been linked to the series since last fall, but he wasn’t part of the casting announcement in January, as he hadn’t officially signed a deal.

Already set to star in the series are Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, and Daniel Weyman.

Baldy is known for his role as Viktor in the BBC-HBO limited series Years and Years, which just concluded. His other credits include the shows Doctor Who and Strike Back, and well as the film Last Christmas.

Production has yet to start for first season of The Lord of the Rings series, and it’s already been renewed for a second season.
