Beacon 23 premiered on MGM+ just last month, and its future is looking bright! The sci-fi psychological thriller led by Lena Headey and Stephan James has been renewed by the streamer for its second season.

Based on Hugh Howey’s best-selling book, Beacon 23 is sat at an intergalactic lighthouse, located in the farthest reaches of the Milky Way. Headey and James play two people who find themselves trapped together at the end of the known universe and struggle to figure out if they’re each other’s friend or foe.

In addition to the leading duo, Beacon 23 also stars Natasha Mumba, Marnie McPhail, Daniel Malik, Carolina Bartczak, Cyrus Faird, Sydney Ozerov-Meyer, Hannah Melissa Scott, and Tara Rosling.

Michael Wright, head of MGM+, confirmed the show’s renewal and promised amazing things to come in Season 2.

“The creative team behind Beacon 23 has masterfully brought Hugh Howey’s best-selling book to life, and we’re excited for fans to continue this journey into Beacon 23’s universe of suspense, emotion, and unforeseen twists,” said Wright in a statement.

Glen Mazzara will serve as co-showrunner and executive producer of Season 2 alongside Joy Blake. He described the show’s next chapter as a thrill ride and promised it would feature more action, more mysteries, more twists, and exciting new characters.
