Michael Fassbender starred in many acclaimed movies over the years, and he’s finally ready to conquer the world of television. He’s officially been cast in Paramount+ espionage drama The Agency, based on the French political drama series The Bureau.

Fassbender will lead this series as a covert CIA agent, who must return to London Station after getting used to his undercover life. His career, his real identity, and his mission are pitted against his heart after he reignites a romance with the love he left behind.

Fassbender has been in talks to star in this project ever since February, when this series was initially announced under the working title The Department. It experienced somewhat of a creative overhaul after Paramount+ and Showtime came on board, and finally gathered an impressive creative team to work on this project.

Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth are writing all ten episodes, with Joe Wright coming on board as one of directors. They’ll also executive produce it alongside Fassbander, plus George Clooney and Grant Heslov via Smokehouse Pictures, among others.

Fassbander is fresh off starring in David Fincher’s The Killer and Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins, and will next be seen in the Sundance hit Kneecap and Steven Soderbergh’s Black Bag.
