“Mindhunter” Gets Season 2 Premiere Date

Holt McCallany and Jonathan Groff in "Mindhunter" (2017)

The Netflix drama is set to return very soon.

Executive producer and series director David Fincher let it slip that season two of Mindhunter will return to the streaming platform on August 16.

“Yes, there is now [a date],” Fincher said on KCRW’s The Treatment. “I’m not sure, I guess I’m allowed to say it, but, yeah, it’s gonna be the 16th.”

This means that the second season of the crime drama will launch nearly two years after the series debuted (October 2017), even though it was renewed for an additional season a month after its debut.

The forthcoming season will pick up a few years after season one and will be set in 1979-1981 Atlanta. It will focus on the Atlanta child murders, where at least 28 people were thought to have been murdered in a short period of time.

Mindhunter hails from creator Joe Penhall. Fincher exec produces alongside Charlize Theron, Joshua Donen, and Cean Chaffin.
