Mindy Kaling is gearing up for another collaboration with Netflix, and the cast of this project is getting larger by the day. Fabrizio Guido, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, and Roberto Sanchez are the latest stars to join Kaling’s upcoming basketball series.
The untitled series will center on Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson), who must take over her family’s basketball franchise the Los Angeles Waves, after her brothers are forced to resign in the face of a huge scandal. She must prove to everyone from her skeptical brothers to the NBA community that she has what it takes to lead one of the most iconic basketball teams in the world.
Brenda Song (Dollface), Drew Tarver (The Other Two), and Scott MacArthur (The Mick) have previously been added to the show’s cast, and they’ll now be joined by five new cast members.
Fabrizio Guido (Good Burger 2) will play a popcorn vendor Jackie Moreno, who suddenly becomes a part of the Waves’ inner circle. Keyla Monterroso Mejia (Curb Your Enthusiasm) will portray his cousin, the ambitious personal injury attorney Ana Moreno.
Toby Sandeman (Power Book III: Raising Kanan) and Chet Hanks (Your Honor) will portray two of the Waves’ top players – a twelve-time All-Star Marcus Winfield and the point guard and aspiring rapper Travis Bugg. Roberto Sanchez (Queen of the South) will join them as Stephen Ramirez, the intimidating head of the board who’s been with the Waves for decades.
