Minx continued its life on Starz following the HBO Max cancelation, but it seems no one’s coming to save it after Season 2. Its star Jake Johnson recently discussed the future of this acclaimed comedy series and said it’s unlikely it would return for Season 3.

Minx was set in 1970s Los Angeles and followed the journey of a young feminist Joyce Prigger (Ophelia Lovibond) who decided to join forces with a shady low-rent publisher Doug Renetti (Jake Johnson) in an attempt to have her voice be heard.

Season 2 of Minx aired on Starz earlier this year, and Johnson recently told Deadline it will most likely be the show’s last chapter.

“I think the move to Starz, I think HBO kind of doing their HBO thing, or HBO Max, whatever it’s called now, I think that was brutal. Then, I think the strike coming out right as we were trying to promote it… My guess is you can’t beat something up that many times and keep going,” he explained.

Johnson said it’s unfortunate that the second season of Minx came out during one of the most turbulent times in Hollywood, and added he loved working with its cast and crew.
