Mr. and Mrs. Smith scored one of the biggest TV debuts in the history of Amazon Prime Video, and its official streaming numbers are finally in. The spy action series had a strong opening on Nielsen’s streaming top ten list with nearly one billion minutes watched in just three days.
Inspired by Doug Liman’s 2005 film of the same name, Mr. and Mrs. Smith stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine as two strangers working for a mysterious agency. They agree to go undercover as a married couple, completing dangerous missions by each other’s side.
In addition to the leading duo, this series also starred an impressive roster of guest stars, including Alexander Skarsgård, Eiza González, Paul Dano, Ron Perlman, Sarah Paulson, Michaela Coel, Parker Posey, and Wagner Moura, among others.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith premiered on Amazon Prime Video on February 2 and scored 964 million minutes watched during its debut week on Nielsen’s streaming rankings. To make the whole thing even more impressive, it managed to reach this number in just three days of availability.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith hit No. 2 on Nielsen’s list of the top 10 streaming originals, behind Netflix’s Griselda with 1.7 billion minutes watched. This crime drama also topped the overall streaming list, while Mr. and Mrs. Smith debuted at No. 4, behind Young Sheldon and Bluey.
