Lady in the Lake is one of the most thrilling new series coming to Apple TV+ this summer, and its first trailer is finally here. Natalie Portman plays a housewife trying to reinvent herself as an investigative journalist and solve a mysterious murder.
Lady in the Lake is based on Laura Lippman’s novel of the same name, and Apple TV+ describes it as “a feverish noir thriller and an unexpected tale of the price women pay for their dreams”, which kicks off with a disappearance of a young girl in Baltimore in 1966.
Portman leads the series as Maddie Schwartz, a housewife who’s trying to shed her dark past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist, who becomes fixated on the mystifying death of Cleo Johnson (Moses Ingram), a desperate mother struggling to provide for her family.
In addition to Portman and Ingram in the lead roles, Lady in the Lake also stars Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Byron Bowers, Noah Jupe, Josiah Cross, Mikey Madison, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Dylan Arnold. Alma Har’el created it for Apple TV+ and directed all seven episodes.
Lady in the Lake will arrive on Apple TV+ on July 19 with two episodes, while the remaining five will air weekly.
