Delightful Nathan Lane is getting dreadful.

With a sequel to Penny Dreadful in the works, the Modern Family actor has been cast in the lead role of the forthcoming series.

Based on City of Angels, also by Penny Dreadful creator John Logan, the Showtime series will depict how a grisly murder affects Los Angeles in 1938.

Lane will star as a veteran police officer of the Los Angeles Police Department named Lewis Michener. He will act alongside Daniel Zovatto of Fear the Walking Dead and Natalie Dormer from Game of Thrones.

Michener will serve as a mentor to Zovatto’s young detective, Tiago Vega, while Dormer will portray the demonic Magda.

The original Penny Dreadful came to an end in 2016 following three seasons, with production on Penny Dreadful: City of Angels due to begin later this year.
