Disney+ is currently working on a series based on the National Treasure movies starring Nicolas Cage.

The news was first revealed to Collider by Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of the original National Treasure and its sequel, National Treasure: Book of Secrets during an interview for his upcoming series Hightown.

“We’re certainly working on one [National Treasure] for streaming and we’re working on one for the big screen,” Bruckheimer said. “Hopefully, they’ll both come together and we’ll bring you another ‘National Treasure,’ but they’re both very active … The one for Disney Plus is a much younger cast. It’s the same concept but a young cast.”

This project is the latest adaptation of a popular film series on Disney+ and it joins the upcoming reboots of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Home Alone.

Disney and Bruckheimer announced four months ago that they were working on National Treasure 3. No casting has been revealed for the film yet, but Bruckheimer stated that it would feature the “same cast” which includes Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha, Jon Voight, and Harvey Keitel.
