NBC Sets a “Law & Order: SVU” Spinoff With Elliot Stabler

Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay in "Law & Order: SVU"

Fans of Law & Order: SVU know that the show wasn’t the same after one of the main characters, Elliot Stabler, left the series.

Well, now we can finally catch up with Stabler, as NBC is making a spinoff with the character and Christopher Meloni will reprise his role!

The series will hail from the mastermind behind the Law & Order franchise, Dick Wolf, and it’s been given a 13-episode order. In the new show, Stabler heads the organized crime division of the NYPD.

Meloni left SVU back in 2011, in the show’s 12th season and in Season 13 and Stabler’s character was said to have retired from the police force. Meloni was part of the popular Benson Stabler duo with Mariska Hargitay for more than a decade. He earned an Emmy nomination in 2006 for lead actor in a drama series for his role as Stabler.

After leaving SVU, Meloni starred in Oz, Happy!, Surviving Jack, and Underground. Meloni also appeared in episodes of Pose, True Blood, The Handmaid’s Tale, and the Harley Quinn animated series.

We can only hope to see Benson and Stabler together again!
