The next season of Doctor Who is coming our way this spring, and it will take us on quite a journey. Ncuti Gatwa boards the TARDIS alongside Millie Gibson in BBC’s new trailer, which sees them heading off for many out-of-this-world adventures by each other’s side.
After making his debut as the Fifteenth Doctor in the Christmas episode “The Church on Ruby Road”, Ncuti Gatwa is finally gearing up for his first full season as the Time Lord. Playing the Doctor is an honor of a lifetime for the young actor, and he’s ready to give it his all.
“This role and show means so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each one of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care. I will endeavor my utmost to do the same,” said Gatwa in a statement on the official Doctor Who website.
He’ll be joined by Millie Gibson as his new companion Ruby Sunday, plus Aneurin Barnard, Anita Dobson, Yasmin Finney, Michelle Greenidge, Jonathan Groff, Bonnie Langford, Genesis Lynea, Jemma Redgrave, Lenny Rush, Indira Varma, and Angela Wynter in supporting roles.
The upcoming season will also mark the return of Russell T Davies, the showrunner who successfully ushered in a new era of Doctor Who. The premiere episode will debut on Disney+ on May 10, before earing on BBC on May 11.
