The Brothers Sun created quite a commotion when it premiered on Netflix earlier this winter, but the buzz quickly died down. The acclaimed action-comedy starring the Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh has been canceled after only one season.

Created by Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu, The Brothers Sun tells the tale of Charles Sun (Justin Chien), a notorious Taipei gangster who must change his ways after his father is shot by a mysterious assassin. He decides to leave his old life behind after being forced to go to Los Angeles and protect his mother (Michelle Yeoh) and younger brother Bruce (Sam Song Li).

The supporting cast of this action-comedy also included Joon Lee, Highdee Kuan, Alice Hewkin, Jenny Yang, Johnny Kou, Jon Xue Zhang, and Madison Hu.

The Brothers Sun’s leading man Justin Chien addressed its shock cancelation on social media. He expressed gratitude to everyone from Netflix to the show’s passionate fanbase for making this experience extra special.

“I’d like to thank Brad Falchuk, Byron Wu, Kevin Tancharoen, Jenny Jue, Viet Nguyen, Justin Yu, our incredible team of writers, the folks at Teleyvision, John Radulovic, our kicka– crew, and our stunt team warriors for giving their blood, sweat, and tears to make the best show possible,” he wrote on Instagram.
