Netflix Cancels “Spinning Out” After One Season

Kaya Scodelario in "Spinning Out"

After just one season, Netflix has decided to cancel the figurative skating drama Spinning Out.

The series was released on the platform just over a month ago on January 1 and it was created by former competitive figure skater Samantha Stratton. Stratton was also an executive producer and co-showrunner with Lara Olsen.

Spinning Out followed figure skater Kat Baker (Kaya Scodelario) who after suffering from a bad fall decides that she’s done skating until she meets bad-boy, Justin Davis (Evan Roderick), and starts partnering with him. Baker has to find a balance with her life, love, and mental health while proving she has what it takes to reach the Olympics.

After Netflix looked at the viewership data for the series, they decided not to renew the show. The same fate happened with another new show Soundtrack.
