Netflix Drops First Trailer for Formula 1 Series “Senna”

Gabriel Leone in "Senna"

Ayrton Senna went down in history as one of the most iconic Formula 1 drivers of his generation, and Netflix will soon explore his legacy. The streaming giant dropped the first trailer for their upcoming series Senna, which chronicles the rise and fall of the legendary driver.

According to Netflix’s official logline, this series will chronicle “Senna’s journey of triumphs, disappointments, joys, and sorrows, unveiling his personality and personal relationships.”

The first trailer captures Senna’s historic victory at the 1991 Brazilian Grand Prix in his hometown of São Paulo, which helped him get crowned as the winner of his third Formula 1 World Championship.

The full series will show us much more than that, and it will capture the start of Senna’s motor racing career, see him move to England to compete in Formula Ford, before culminating in his fatal accident in Imola, Italy, during the San Marino Grand Prix at the age of 34.

Gabriel Leone will lead the cast of this project, and he’ll be joined by Pâmela Tomé as his TV star girlfriend Xuxa, Matt Mella as rival driver Alain Prost, Patrick Kennedy as McLaren team principal Ron Dennis, and Gabriel Louchard as Brazilian sports announcer Galvão Bueno.

Senna still doesn’t have an official release date, but it will premiere on Netflix later this year and feature six episodes.
