Netflix has several exciting new series coming our way this August, and Terminator Zero is among the streamer’s most promising new projects. The new trailer for this sci-fi anime is here, and it centers on a scientist developing an AI system that could stop Skynet in its tracks.
Terminator Zero follows a resistance soldier Eiko, who’s sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She must come face to face with The Terminator, in an attempt to stop a future war between the human survivors and an endless army of machines.
“She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who works to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet’s impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he’s hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future,” reads Netflix’s official logline.
The star-studded voice cast of this project includes Timothy Olyphant as The Terminator, André Holland as Malcolm Lee, and Sonoya Mizuno as Eiko. Rosario Dawson recently joined them as the voice of the AI system Kokoro, while Ann Dowd will voice The Prophet, the philosophical guide for human resistance.
Terminator Zero will feature eight episodes, arriving on Netflix on August 29.
